He cannot reach them himself (unless, of course, his mama lets him stand on a chair underneath for a photo-op), but I am unable to carry him from room to room without having to stop at every single light switch so that he can satisfy his desire to press it in an attempt to create light.
It has not dawned on him yet that in order for a light switch to turn on or shut off the light in a room it must be flipped up or down and not pressed like a button, but none of my methods of teaching and persuasion can convince him otherwise. And so we have Garrett, aged 14 1/2 months, pressing every light switch in the apartment, turning around to see if it worked, then trying to press it again.

So funny to see how kids' minds work. Dean has the "flip down" down, but the "flip up" takes quite a bit of encouragement on my part.
Just wait... someday you'll be at church and the lights will go off, it will be then that you realize that Garrett no longer has any problems with the light switches:-)

If we lived closer we'd get Mia and Garrett together for a light switch play date 'cause she's totally into the same things he is. :)

Lindsay, i think you should have a lot of spare bulbs at home(joke)...i can tell by looking at his pictures how much he's having fun discovering the magic of that "on & off" lightbulb.
These pictures are too cute! I gather from the long sleeves and pants that fall has hit NY? I can't wait to see some "changing leaves" pictures!
That's great. Kate's recently discovered light switches, too. She loves turning them off, at least.
