Apparently we're a mobile good luck charm for professional football teams. Last year, when we lived in Indiana, Indianapolis won the Superbowl. And this year, it was New York. Only, judging by the people shouting in the streets, the blaring car horns, and the general buzz of drunken ecstacy, I think it's safe to say that New Yorkers are much louder celebrators. This is a video, taken from our fire escape, shot shortly after the game ended. They've been at it for over an hour now, with no clear indications of quieting down. I suppose I can console myself with the fact that this is Brooklyn, not Manhattan, where I'm convinced it's much louder, and the bars here close at 4:00 am, so it's bound to end eventually. Until then, go team.

Oh man that's awesome, Lindsay! I know not everyone is football fans but that totally makes me smile to see that. Maybe you could move to San Francisco next year? Go Giants! I love that they won.
I was thinking you should move to Philly.
And yes, I was thinking of you when the game was on...you are the good luck charms!
Incredible. People here are a little excited too--it's "our baby brother" that won. I guess somehow it makes it okay that the Colts blew it this year. Hope you got some sleep last night!
I'm SO jealous, you living in Brooklyn and me out here in the boonies.
I was living in NY in 1986, the year that the NY Mets won the Worlds Series, and the Giants won the Super Bowl.
Suffice to say that I was as loud as everyone around me!
Crazy!
Thanks for the visual. It's so easy for me to pretend that professional sports don't exist--but it's kind of entertaining to see how excited everyone is.
Hope you got some sleep last night!
Oh my gosh. How noisy! Hope you got a little sleep, eh?!?!
So cool... not for sleeping, but it's neat to see people happy. I didn't even know which teams were playing. I'll have to keep up on more.
Wow. I kind of love how that courteous pedestrian in the crosswalk almost gets run down by a car coming from another direction.
It was not so celebratory in Boston, I'm afraid. Every newspaper had a shot of a sad football player on the front page. It was strangely hilarious. Which just shows how callous I can be.
Oh, I am totally jealous. How fun! You need to come back to Indiana. We need your karma for next year.
