the many sides of brooklyn

Yesterday after church we waited out an impressive thunderstorm before heading on a short walk to the Shore Promenade near our apartment:

Chelsea, Katie, and the Lower Manhattan skyline from the 69th St. Pier.

This morning we headed down to Coney Island:

Fresh off the subway and ready for fun.

Both girls were pretty proud of the fact that in just one month, they'd touched both the Pacific Ocean AND the Atlantic Ocean.

Lunch was brought to us by the original Nathan's Famous. For an appetizer, we ate funnel cake.

We walked through Astroland and seriously contemplated riding the famous Cyclone rollercoaster. The high ticket price persuaded us that it might not be completely worth it.

Afterwards we took the train to the opposite end of the borough to walk along the Brooklyn Heights Promenade:

On the Brooklyn Heights Promenade with Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge.

We made a quick stop at an adjoining playground to go for a ride on the swings and a trip down the slide.

(By now I'm sure you know the drill: more pictures can be found by clicking here and scrolling to the bottom of the page.)

Man, you could just write a book about touring NY in one week. I think you have hit about everything! All you need is a Broadway Musical with tickets from Ticket-Ticket (if that is still around)!

Do you have the two cutest sisters or what? Adorable. You look like you are having a fabulous time. I wish I were there.

I love Nathan's!! Their hot dogs are so good. I also love the picture of Garrett on the slide. His smile is so contagious!

Did people ask if you (or your sisters) were twins (or even triplets?) When my sister and I were in NY, we had about 10 people ask us that. I don't think we even looked as alike as your sisters do!

Melissa - no, but one guy asked me if they were my daughters. I tried very hard not to take offense. Because, really, I don't think I look old enough to be. :)
