day at the museum

So far as we're aware, the animals and figures do not come to life at night like they did in the movie. Of course, we were there in the safety of daytime, so I suppose we're not a good authority on what happens after hours. Either way, though, a visit to see the American Museum of Natural History is well worth the excursion.

(Sorry about the handful of blurry pictures...it would seem that maybe those animals might get antsy after all since I apparently had such a hard time getting some of them to hold still for the camera.)

Well, great news. It seems as though Elliot and I are coming back to the wonderful state of New York from May 25 to June 1. So...we went in July and did the "touristy" things like the Rock, Central Park, Times Square, Mars 2112, Canal street, Wicked, the Daily Show...anything else you can think of to recommend we do while we are there? I just thought I'd get an insider's opinion as I plan our week.

Looks like a cool place. Are they really stuffed animals, or are they just replicas? For some reason seeing all those birds made me sad if they're real.

Jessica - How fun! I'll have to start thinking. I'll email you soon with some ideas.

Heath - I'm sorry to say that the animals are real. Quite a few of the exhibits had signs, though, that said the reason the animals were killed, and I thought that most of them were for all right reasons (like, say, that crocodile was killed out of self defense and some animals actually did die naturally).

I LOVE this museum!! It's one of my favorites! I think the highlight for me is the ocean room. That whale is just so cool!!
